For our Target Audience research, my group went onto a website called YouGov which gives vague information about the types of people that watch particular films. For example, their age, gender and even tells you what they would like to get up to and a daily basis. YouGov is an extremely helpful website and is effective when you want too find out the specific characteristics of the people that view certain films.
My group have chosen Comedy as our genre for our opening sequence and YouGov has given us information that we will therefore as people about to see if they agree and if they are interested in the films of our chosen genre. We will interview a certain amount of people who feel comfortable when they are sitting in front of a camera and then we will ask them for their opinion on each of the films that we have searched up and this will help us when we are identifying our target audience and give us a better understanding of this. When we have interviewed all of the people for the video we will edit the video so that we have a final copy of the video and can identify what we will need to do in our opening sequence. My group will also carry out a survey on SurveyMonkey which will have questions which ask about our specific genre of comedy and whether or not it is a good idea to use and if the audience that answer our survey will have an interest in the films that we will be looking at on YouGov. This survey will help us even more as well as the information gathered from YouGov and the information that we find out from both will help us decide the final decisions that we need to know about our audience before we start filming our opening sequence.
